Visa Category 

Tourist visa

Purpose:The Tourist visa is granted only for the following purposes:

- Recreation
- Sightseeing
- Casual visits to meet friends or relatives
- Attending a short-term yoga program
- Short-duration medical treatment

Important Note for Journalists
Journalists, even when traveling for tourism purposes, must apply for a Journalist (J) visa only.

Required Documents: 

  1. Travel Medical Insurance: Covering the entire intended stay
    2. Bank Statement
    3. Passport Copies: All pages of other valid or expired international and internal passports
    4. Original Passport: Minimum 6 months validity and two blank pages
    5. Photograph: One good quality color photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)
    6. Return Air Ticket
    7. Hotel Booking or Invitation: Notarized invitation from someone in India (along with a copy of the photo page and address page of the host's passport)

Additional Documents: The Consulate reserves the right to demand any additional documents.

Note:
Please ensure that you meet all the requirements and submit complete documentation to avoid any delays or rejections.

Business visa

Purpose: 

- Establishing an industrial/business venture
- Frequent travel for long-term business activities
- Investors
- Sports persons and coaches, including commercial sports events in India 

Eligibility: 

Business Visa will be issued from the country of origin or habitual domicile (except India) if the foreigner has resided there for over 2 years. 

Family Members/Dependent: 

Will be granted Business Dependent Visa, co-terminous with the principal visa holder's validity. 

Note: 

For international sports events, visa will be issued only with clearances from: 

- Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports
- Ministry of Home Affairs
- Ministry of External Affairs 

Required Documents: 

- Basic documents

- Letter of invitation from Indian company with signature and stamp
- Copy of Certificate of Incorporation or Registration
- Membership Certificate of Export Promotion Council (Pharmaceuticals)
- Original letter of petition from Russian company in English
- Copy of Certificate of Incorporation or Registration with English translation
- Memorandum and Articles of Association (if applicant is founder/Director)
- Income Tax Return and PAN CARD (from Indian company)
- Copy of second passport (if dual citizenship) 

Additional Documents:
The Consulate reserves the right to demand any additional documents. 

Employment visa

Purpose:
For all cases of employment, including: 

- Intra company transferees
- Employment with NGOs
- Executing projects in Power & Steel sectors 

Eligibility: 

The applicant should be a highly skilled and/or qualified professional, engaged or appointed by a company/organization in India on contract or employment basis. 

Requirements: 

- Proof of employment or contract or engagement by the company/firm/organization in India
- Documentary proof of educational qualifications and professional expertise
- Gross salary in excess of Rs. 16.25 lakhs per annum 

Note: 

- Employment Visa may be issued from the country of origin or domicile (except India) if the applicant has resided there for over 2 years.
- Family members/dependents of Employment Visa holders will be granted Employment Dependent Visa, co-terminous with the principal visa holder's validity. 

 

Applicant has to appear for interview on a date to be conveyed by Consulate. 

Required Documents for Employment Visa
In addition to the basic required documents for a tourist visa, the following documents are needed for an Employment visa:
- Annexure –I and II (Attachment-1 to be opened on clicking this link) (Annexure I should be filled by the applicant and printed, while Annexure II should be filled by the Indian company with a stamp and signature, and can be a scanned copy)
- Educational qualification documents with English translation
- Letter from the Russian company (on proper letterheadNote: with full address, email ID, contact number, name of signing authority, and seal)
- Supporting letter addressed to the Consulate (in English) on proper letterhead
- Registration certificate of the company with English translation
Additional Documents if Russian Company Sends to India
- Original letter of the Russian company in English (on company letterhead with original stamp and signature)
- Copy of Certificate of registration with English translation (not notarized)
Additional Documents from India
- Appointment Letter addressed to the applicant
- Agreement/contract (with clear mention of salary, period of contract, method of income tax deduction, etc.)
- Letter regarding payment of Income Tax on behalf of the applicant (on proper letterhead)
- Visa request letter addressed to the Consulate (on proper letterhead of Employer)
- Certificate of incorporation or Registration of Indian company (with CIN number)
- Registration certificate from Central Excise department
- PAN card copy
- Income tax return statement of the Company (last one year)
Checklist for Employment Visa to Models
Apart from the basic documents for a visa, the following documents should be submitted:

- Permanent residence proof for 2 years (if not Russian)
- Diploma in modeling/fashion
- Experience certificate in modeling/fashion profession
- If the applicant has worked before in India: Form 30B (No objection for a person not domiciled in India under SECTION 230 (1) of Income Tax Act, 1961)
Russian Side Company
- Original letter of petition from the Russian company in English (on company letterhead with original stamp and signature)
- Copy of Certificate of registration with English translation (not notarized) 

Indian Side Company
- Appointment Letter addressed to the applicant
- Notarized Agreement/contract (with clear mention of salary, period of contract, method of income tax deduction, etc.)
- Notarized Letter regarding payment of Income Tax on behalf of the applicant (on proper letterhead)
- Visa request letter addressed to the Consulate (on proper letterhead of Employer)
- Certificate of incorporation or Registration of Indian Company (with CIN number)
- Registration certificate from Central Excise department
- PAN card copy
- Income tax return statement of the Company (last three years)
- Bank statement for last 6 months
- Copy of the first page of International Passport with Indian Visa and Form 30B (till five persons who have worked in India)
Note: The applicant has to appear for an interview on a date to be conveyed by the Consulate

Entry visa ('X' Visa)

For Family Members: 

- Persons of Indian origin
- Spouse and children of Indian citizens/persons of Indian origin/OCI cardholders (excluding those registered as OCI cardholders) 

Required Documents: 

- Marriage Certificate (English translation, if applicable; or a copy if issued in India)
- Invitation Letter from husband:
- If husband is in India: Notarized Invitation Letter
- If husband is in Russia: Handwritten Letter of Invitation at the Visa Center
- Passport Copy of husband (first and last page)
- To and Fro tickets (Reservation only) 

For Children: 

- Birth Certificate:
- If born in Russia: Notarized copy with English translation
- If born in India: Copy only 

To Join Auroville, Ashram, Temples, or Similar Approved Organisations: 

- Letter of invitation from the concerned organization in India with signature and stamp
- Copy of the Certificate of Incorporation or Registration (in the presence of)

Student visa

A Student visa is granted to individuals who produce proof of admission to a full-time course in a recognized educational institution in India. This includes: 

- School education
- Higher education (including in South Asian University and Nalanda University)
- Provisional student visa for short-term courses
- Student Exchange Programme
- Studies in Yoga, Vedic culture, Indian systems of music and dance, and Buddhist studies
- Theological studies and Missionary students
- Research scholars, visiting research faculty, research scholars on bilateral exchange programs, and members of botanical, scientific, anthropological, etc., expeditions
- Internship in India (including those coming under the French VIE program) 

Note: 

  1. No Student Visa will be issued if sponsored by franchise Educational Institutes running off-campus centers, Study Centers of Open Universities offering distance learning programs, Educational Institutes running “outreach” programs, and offering courses without statutory sanction from regulatory authorities.
    2. Student Visa will not be issued for pursuing ‘Short Term Courses’ which are not recognized.
    3. List of recognized institutions are available on: 

    - List of institutes approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is available on their website

Research Scholar Visa

Individuals desiring to undertake research in India should apply with: 

- Synopsis
- Subject of research
- Details of places to be visited
- Letter of recommendation/support from the institute in the UK
- Original letter of invitation from the Indian institute on their letterhead
- Evidence of source of funding 

List of Required Documents 

Apart from basic documents for visa, the following documents should be submitted as supporting documents: 

- Letter of invitation from the concerned University in India with signature and stamp
- Copy of the certificate of incorporation or registration
- The Consulate reserves the right to demand any additional documents 

If Russian University is sending: 

- Original letter of petition from Russian University in English
- Copy of certificate of incorporation or registration of the company with English translation (not notarized)
- University Payment receipt
- Bank statement (amount not specified) 

AIESEC-Intern: 

- Letter of invitation from the concerned Company in India with signature and stamp
- Agreement/contract (clearly mentioning salary, period of contract, method of income tax deduction, etc.)
- Copy of the certificate of incorporation or registration
- Letter of invitation from the AIESEC Company in India with signature and stamp
- Original letter of petition from Russian AIESEC Company in English
- Copy of the certificate of incorporation or registration of the company with English translation (not notarized) 

Additional Requirements: 

- The letter of invitation from the Indian University and the letter of petition from the Russian University must specify the period of visa, number of entries, and passport details of the applicant.
- The Consulate reserves the right to demand any additional documents. 

Note: 

- All documents must be submitted in English or with an English translation.
- The Consulate may require additional documentation or information.
- The decision to grant a visa is subject to the discretion of the Consulate. 

Transit visa

A Transit visa is primarily intended for seafarers transiting through India to enable them to travel to a destination outside India. The visa is valid for a single journey and entry within 15 days from the date of issue. 

Exemptions: 

- Foreigners passing through India by air in direct transit, traveling onward, do not require a Transit visa if they do not leave the specified airport precincts.
- Persons traveling by sea do not require a Transit visa if they do not leave the ship. 

Validity and Type: 

- The Transit visa is valid for 15 days from the date of issue.
- It can be single entry or double entry, depending on the applicant's requirement.
- The visa is non-extendable and non-convertible.

    8. Crew List with original stamp and signature
    9. If the applicant has dual citizenship, a copy of the second passport is required 

Additional Documents for Citizens of Other Countries: 

  1. Copy of migration card
    2. Copy of registration certificate/visa
    3. Evidence of work in the Russian Federation for more than 2 years
    4. If the applicant has lived in Russia for the last two years, copies of supporting documents (visa/registration, work permit, residence permit, etc.)
    5. Additional Form for Foreigners 

Conference visa

A Conference visa is issued to attend conferences, seminars, workshops, business meetings, or board meetings in India. The event must be organized by: 

- Ministry or Department of the Government of India
- State Governments
- Public Sector undertakings
- Central Educational Institutions
- Public funded Universities
- Organizations owned and controlled by the Government of India or State Governments
- United Nations or its specialized agencies 

Purpose: 

- International conferences to discuss a specific subject
- Seminars or workshops on a specific subject
- Business meetings to discuss company/organization matters
- Board meetings 

Note: 

- Conferences/seminars/workshops sponsored by NGOs are subject to further scrutiny 

List of Required Documents: 

In addition to basic visa documents, the following supporting documents are required for a Conference visa: 

  1. Letter of invitation from the Indian company with signature and stamp
    2. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation or Registration
    3. Permission from the Ministry of Home (Internal) and Foreign Affairs (for holding Conference)
    4. Original letter of petition from Russian company in English (on company letterhead with original stamp and signature)
    5. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation or Registration of the company with English translation (not notarized)
    6. If the applicant has dual citizenship, a copy of the second passport is required 

Additional Documents:

- Citizens of other countries must provide:
- Copy of migration card
- Copy of registration certificate/visa

Journalist visa

Journalist visas are issued to professional journalists and photographers for a period of up to 3 months (single or double entry). 

Requirements:

- Please provide details on a separate sheet of:

- Places to be visited

- Persons to be interviewed

- Allow and make provision for one month's time to process documentary proposals

Film Visa 

Film Visa (Multiple Entry with 1 year Validity) 

A Film visa is issued to cast and crew members of international productions and official co-productions shooting: 

- Feature Films
- TV/Web commercial shows/series
- TV/Web Reality shows/series 

Requirements: 

- Permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoI&B), Government of India
- Application submission online on www.ffo.gov.in.
- Detailed step-by-step guide available on the website
- Assistance: ffo@nfdcindia.com 

After Permission: 

- Cast and crew members of approved projects must apply for a Film visa
- Contact Embassy's Press and Information Wing: press.moscow@mea.gov.in 

Conditions: 

- Project-specific visa
- Film company responsible for cast and crew
- Registration with FRRO/FRO required for stays over 180 days
- Proof of adequate means to support oneself in India
- Undertaking from film production company:
- Crew members are full-time employees
- Company responsible for conduct and repatriation
- Adherence to norms and regulations for foreigners
- Limited to permitted areas

Medical visa

A Medical visa is issued to individuals traveling to India for medical treatment in recognized hospitals/treatment centers. 

Allowed Attendees: 

- Up to two attendants who are blood relatives can accompany the applicant under Medical Attendant visas
- Medical Attendant visa has the same validity as the Medical visa 

List of Treatable Ailments: 

- Neuro-surgery
- Ophthalmic disorders
- Heart-related problems
- Renal disorders
- Organ transplantation
- Congenital disorders
- Gene-therapy
- Radio-therapy
- Plastic surgery
- Joint replacement 

Visa Validity: 

- Initial duration: up to 1 year or period of treatment, whichever is less
- Maximum 3 entries during 1 year

  1. Appendix V (filled by Indian Hospital with stamp and signature of Doctor)
    2. Letter of invitation from concerned Hospital in India with signature and stamp
    3. Copy of Analyses with English translation
    4. Conclusion from Russian Hospital about examination with English translation
    5. Original letter from Russian Hospital in English (on company letterhead with original stamp and signature)
    6. Copy of Certificate of Incorporation or Registration of the company with English translation (not notarized)
    7. If the applicant has dual citizenship, a copy of the second passport is required
